OVERVIEW
Unofficial poster created to celebrate the 33rd annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival. The poster was created as a hierarchy, typesetting, and research exercise, with the goal of communicating the spirit of the event with a single, basic typeface and little reliance on image.
To represent the earnest vision of Ireland celebrated at the event, a simple shamrock graphic was created as the supporting visual in the poster. Bisecting the name of the event, it balances the composition and guides the viewer through the copy. Additionally, it is arranged into a thin, subtle filigree pattern over the text, which evokes the delicacy of a Celtic knot and brings new moments of excitement into the poster. Besides the main colors of green, orange, and navy blue, spots of neon yellow cut through the page and reflect the colorful lights of the festival against the backdrop of the night sky.
