2D COLLECTIVE BRANDING & MARKETING
Fall 2024 – Present
Sole Designer Type Design, Logo Design, Social Media

Design of a logo and brand for the 2D Collective, a printmaking club founded by students at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design. The mission of the 2D Collective is to build interest in traditional printmaking techniques, hosting live demonstrations and community events with the School of Design’s antique printing equipment, including printing presses and a Risograph printer.

The logo was designed to evoke hand-carved stamps and wood block prints, and the type used was inspired by actual specimens held in the school’s 2D lab. Orange, black, and off-white were made brand colors to evoke the School of Design, fresh ink, and aged paper respectively.

Events hosted by the 2D Collective are typically open to all Carnegie Mellon students, so a strong social media presence was necessary to build interest and connect with students outside of the School of Design. A visual system was established to distinguish events, where live demonstrations of equipment are held, from general body meetings, where members can voice their suggestions and meet directly with 2D Collective staff representatives.

As the Director of Marketing and Outreach, I have also been responsible for designing and printing posters for upcoming events catered specifically to School of Design students. This includes events hosted by the 2D Collective as well as the School of Design itself.
